- 5.0 out of 5 stars from K. Evans -- Glorious happy ending : Once in awhile, I like a romance that has intricate plots and twists like this one but that has a satisfying ending. I cannot wait to read the bonus book promised. The characters were lovingly developed and caught my interest from the first chapter. The story moves swiftly and smoothly along taking the reader with it. The ending was strong and satisfying but I do not wish to give it away. Let us just say the baddies got their just deserts. Ms. Swan seemed to know her history as well as her heart and I learned a lot about living in a small holding in old Scotland. Wish modern neighbors would be so "neighborly". Behind it is a superbly written, gritty, and nail biting historical f/f romance that’s set in the 1700s of Scotland. I was really blown away by this tale since it’s a debut author. But, besides that, it’s a solidly written story that, if it was released by one of the bigger lesfic publishers, would get tons of positive attention. It's a beautifully written rollercoaster of a love story set in Scotland you can almost smell the heather and feel the wind and rain lashing down and how two very different women cope on their own.
